A SCHOOLGIRL has been treated in hospital after being struck by a car as she crossed a busy road.
The 14-year-old girl was injured as she crossed Durham Road, in Blackhill near Consett Community Sports College yesterday afternoon.
The girl, from Medomsley, suffered a small cut to the back of the head after being struck by a Seat Ibiza, as the car was overtaking a bus at around 3.30pm.
After being treated at the scene by paramedics, she was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham for further treatment, although her injuries are described by police as minor.
The driver of the car, a 24-year-old women from Consett, was uninjured.
Police closed the road briefly to allow paramedics to attend the scene.
