YOUTHS who threw a smoke grenade through the door of a house in Darlington have been criticised by firefighters.
The incendiary device was thrown into the premises in Warwick Drive, Darlington, on Thursday night as a woman was having tea with her son.
It filled the house full of smoke and left a scorch mark on the laminate flooring.
A spokesman for Darlington fire and rescue said had the hallway been carpeted the outcome could have been a lot worse.
The occupants were alerted thanks to their smoke alarm.
