Mark and Sharon Foster from Barnhurst, Kent, are running together in this year's Flora London Marathon on Sunday 14th April. It will be Sharon's first marathon but Mark's third.
With two children of their own and having lost a friend to cancer last year they have decided to raise funds for Phab and Imperial Cancer Research.
Phab is the leading national charity dedicated to the integration of children and adults with and without disabilities. There are over 250 Phab clubs in England with a total of over 15,000 members. Phab creates opportunities for the disabled and able-bodied to come together on equal terms by means of local clubs, holidays and activities to encourage independence, with special emphasis on children and young people. Through its Disability Awareness Programme it is also working to alter perceptions and prejudices by raising awareness of all disability issues amongst the general public.
Imperial Cancer Research Fund is dedicated to the prevention, treatment and cure of all forms of cancer. Their team of over 1,000 scientists and doctors are at the forefront of the world-wide effort to find new answers to the disease.
Sharon and Mark, who both train with Bexley Athletics Club are aiming to raise £1001 for each charity making a grand total of £2002 for the year 2002. If you would like to sponsor them or to make a donation they can be contacted on 01322 557285.
