TWO teenagers are being hunted by police after threatening a shopkeeper with a hammer.

The youths, both aged between 14 and 17 and wearing hooded jackets, struck shortly after 8pm tonight at the Thandi Food Store, in Wallis Road, Penshaw, near Sunderland.

They threatened the proprietor with a hammer before escaping on foot with what police describe as being a "small sum of cash".
