Housebound mother took drugs with friends

1:16pm Sunday 8th June 2008

A HOUSEBOUND mother who took drugs with friends was given a two-year conditional discharge by a judge.

When police executed a search warrant at the home of Susan Hannon, 43, they seized quantities of Amphetamines, cannabis and Temazepam.

The Amphetamines was in a handbag in her bedroom and she told officers that the drugs were for her own use , said prosecutor Sue Jacobs.

Hannon was searched again a month later and a similar quantity of amphetamines was found, Teesside Crown Court was told. She appeared before Teesside Magistrates who gave her a conditional discharge.

Michael Bosomworth, defending, said that Hannon rarely went out of the house because she had limited mobility due to back pain.

He added: "She is in the habit of taking amphetamines socially with friends."

The judge Recorder Simon Bourne-Arton QC told her: "I am concerned that having been arrested in respect of this matter you went before the magistrates for again possessing Amphetamines which means you were doing so whilst on bail for this offence."

Hannon of The Avenue, Eston, Teesside, was given a two-year conditional discharge after she pleaded guilty to possession of Amphetamines, cannabis and Temazepam on July 25 last year.
