Teenagers in hospital after car accident

THREE teenagers are recovering in hospital, after a three-vehicle collision.

The 18-year-old women were travelling in a blue Vauxhall Corsa, on the A61, close to the junction with Nidd Lane, near Ripley, in North Yorkshire.

The car, which was travelling towards Ripon, was in collision with a white Skoda Octavia and a silver Toyota Avensis, which were both travelling in the opposite direction.

The collision occurred at about 3.15pm, on Tuesday.

All three women suffered serious injuries, and one was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary.

The other two were taken by land ambulance to Harrogate General Hospital.

A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said all three women, who are believed to live locally, were now in a stable condition.

A 43-year-old man, who was in the Toyota, also suffered minor injuries.

The road was closed for four hours after the incident, while accident investigators examined the scene Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision.
