REVIEWS
Haydn/Isang Yun, Farewell (ECM New Series476 6188) The Munchener Kammerorchestra under the baton of its youthful artistic director Alexander Liebreich deliver a translucent rendition of Haydn's Symphonies 39 and 45, better known as the Farewell.
The Dowland Project: Romaria (ECM 476 5780) Hilliard Ensemble tenor and York University lecturer John Potter is joined by musicians Milos Valent, John Surman and Stephen Stubbs, to delve into music from the 12th century to present day. Drawing on their individual experiences, their improvisations create atmospheric beauty. The third album in the project, its title refers to pilgrimages. This musical journey is a must.
Aldo Finzi and Nino Rota (Bel Air Music BAM2042) The Romantic Italian composer Aldo Finzi's unpublished Instrumental and Chamber Music for organ, piano, violin and viola is coupled with lovely chamber works by Nino Rota. A sterling recording.
