New role at popular museum

5:12pm Thursday 15th May 2008

A FAST-growing attraction is building on its increasing popularity by appointing its first museum officer.

Aimee Fleming from Ripon has taken on the new role at the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington, near York.

The former wartime bomber station's position as a registered museum, charity and attraction means that it has a foot in both the public and private sectors.

And the growth in both visitor numbers and the museum's sphere of activities is now being addressed by additional staff.

Aimee's appointment builds upon a sustained period of growth, which over the past two seasons alone has seen an increase in visitors of 11.3 per cent and 11.8 per cent respectively.

A history graduate, she has previously worked in the heritage and tourism sectors and will be involved in project funding initiatives and meeting heritage management requirements.
