A DRIVER has been treated in hospital for injuries sustained after his wagon crashed and overturned at a notorious blackspot.
It is understood the driver escaped with minor injuries after his small truck careered off the road and plunged down an embankment at Birk Brow, near Guisborough.
Accidents on the hill, which carries the busy A171 between Teesside and the seaside resorts of Whitby and Scarborough, have resulted in more than 50 casualties in recent years.
Cleveland Police say it appears the driver of the dray lost control of his vehicle as he came out of a bend, driving downhill.
Paramedics treated the unnamed man at the scene before he was taken by ambulance to the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, following the incident which happened on Saturday evening.
The road was closed while the wagon was recovered and the driver treated for his injuries.
