Man arrested over woman's death

POLICE are investigating after a woman was found dead at her home.

Emergency services were called to a house in West Tanfield, near Ripon, North Yorkshire, just before 10pm on Wednesday night after reports that a woman had been assaulted.

The police found the woman, 29, had died.

A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said the woman, who has not been named, had been seriously assaulted before she died.

She said: "At 21.58 police were called to a house at West Tanfield following reports that a 29-year old woman had been assaulted and suffered serious injuries. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene."

* A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the woman's death. Anyone with information should call the police on 0845-60-60-247.
