With the increase in digital TVs and people accessing the internet through their gogglebox the powers-that-be introduce a whole new domain name dotTV.
It is just like .com, .net and .org and, according to the company registering .tv domains, it will help organisations and individuals to brand themselves through its global marketing programme.
DotTV also believes a .tv address symbolises the future of the internet as TV is the most recognisable two-letter symbol in the world.
To get the domain indicator a deal was struck with the Pacific Island nation Tuvalu which had .tv assigned to it in the same way .uk was assigned to Britain.
DotTV will give the proceeds from the agreement an estimated $4m per year for the next 10 years to Tuvalu.
The country is also a shareholder in dotTV and has a seat on dotTVs board.
