A MOTORCYCLIST is critically ill in hospital after a two vehicle crash.
He came off his bike on the A170 at the top of Sutton Bank, near Thirsk, North Yorkshire, following a collision with a lorry and was airlifted to hospital.
The 38-year-old man, from the York area, suffered multiple injuries to his chest, hands and legs in the crash.
He was on a black Suzuki bike and was part of a group of four motorcyclists heading towards Helmsley when the accident took place at 3.35pm on Tuesday near to the entrance to The Yorkshire Gliding Club.
The injured man was taken to the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, by the Great North Air Ambulance, where he is critical but stable.
The truck driver, a man from the Durham area, was uninjured in the crash.
