Inaugural Roddick award for trust

A NATIONAL award named after the late Anita Roddick has been won by a North-East NHS trust for its efforts in preventing the spread of hepatitis C.
The inaugural Anita Roddick Award was presented to County Durham Primary Care Trust by Durham City MP Roberta Blackman- Woods yesterday.
It recognised that the trust has made dramatic improvements in services for people with hepatitis C.
A year ago, Dame Anita Roddick, who founded The Body Shop, revealed she had been living with hepatitis C for more than half her life, after being infected through a blood transfusion in 1971, when giving birth. She died, aged 64, on September 11 last year.
Dr Tricia Cresswell, public health director with the trust, said: "We have been able to develop an appropriate testing and treatment pathway for people with hepatitis C in our community and in our prisons."
