Two seriously injured after tanker and cars collide

TWO people were seriously injured after an accident involving a tanker carrying fertiliser and two cars occurred on the A19.
The collision happened around 4.05pm last night adjacent to the New Parks layby south of the Tollerton and Huby crossroads.
The accident involved a white Peugeot 406 taxi and the tanker, which were travelling north towards Easingwold, and a green Ford Focus travelling south towards York.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said two people had to be cut free from the wreckage of the vehicles by the fire service before being taken to hospital. It is not clear which vehicles they were from.
The road was closed for two hours, before being fully reopened at 9.45pm.
