A THEME park's campaign to win support for multi-million pound plans to build a holiday village has reached its target of collecting 10,000 signatures.
Lightwater Valley, near Ripon, North Yorkshire, wants to build an inland resort with 340 chalets and lodges phased in over three to four years.
The proposals were refused planning permission in July by Harrogate Borough Council's planning committee.
Some people living nearby said the development would be too large and the impact on the area too great.
Lightwater Valley launched its Say Yes campaign in early September while it considered its next move.
General manager Mark Bainbridge said the campaign has now met its target of gathering 10,000 signatures in favour of the plans. Open days were held in Ripon and at the theme park and more than 20,000 leaflets distributed throughout the area.
Mr Bainbridge said: "We have been greatly encouraged by the positive response we have received from the general public, residents and local businesses.
"We've also have the opportunity to talk to local residents about the proposed plans and how it will impact on the community and we've had the chance to dispel some of the rumours being discussed about an influx of migrant workers coming to the area and being housed on the site."
