A COUNCIL is warning residents and visitors that it is ready to take action against dog owners who let their pets foul public spaces.
Richmondshire District Council is cracking down on the scourge of dog muck and is sending out a message that action will be taken against offenders.
Council officers are asking people to report all incidents to them – taking footage on their phones or dash cams if possible.
The plea comes after a successful case last month when a resident filmed an incident in Gilling West on a dash cam which led to a fine for the dog owner.
Deputy leader of the council, Councillor Ian Threlfall, said: “We want to keep our streets and parks clear of dog mess and encourage people to report any incidents they see.
He added: “Most dog walkers realise the importance of picking up after their pets, but there are still some that give them all a bad name.”
