DEANDRE YEDLIN will not be involved in Newcastle United's game at Cardiff City tomorrow.

Yedlin damaged his knee in the closing stages of last weekend's 2-1 defeat to Totenham at St James' Park.

Scans have shown that the American full-back did not suffer any serious damage, but he will sit out tomorrow's game at the Cardiff City Stadium as he has been unable to properly train this week.

Javier Manquillo is set to replace him in the starting line-up for the lunch-time kick-off.

Rafael Benitez said: "It's too soon for DeAndre. He's been training, but he will stay here to work and get back to his level. I think next week he will be fine."

Meanwhile, Newcastle’s Carabao Cup second-round game at Nottingham Forest has been selected for live coverage on Sky. The game at the City Ground will take place on Wednesday, August 29.
