POLICE have launched an investigation after a high-value burglary on a Gateshead trading estate yesterday.

Just after 7am this morning Northumbria Police received a report that entry had been forced to the EuroVent unit at the Team Valley Trading Estate.

The offenders had broken open external and internal locked doors before carrying out a search of the property, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

The raiders stole a set of keys and made off in two separate vans from outside the property.

The burglary is believed to have taken place between 7pm on Tuesday evening and 7am this morning, however, CCTV has captured the vans leaving the area around 11.23pm last night.

The estimated value of both the vans, and the damage caused to the premises, is upwards of £100,000.

Police have released this image of van which is similar to the two stolen - the registrations of the stolen vans are NK16NTG and NK15LYV.

The burglary is not believed to be linked to the robbery of a nearby bookmakers in the Teams Valley area yesterday.

Anyone who has seen the vans in question, or saw anyone acting suspiciously on the estate last night, should contact Northumbria Police on 101 quoting log 158 16/08/18 or Crimestoppes anonymously on 0800 555 111.
