A LEGENDARY name in the blues and pop world will perform in the North-East in the summertime, next year.

Evergreen Mungo Jerry have been announced as the headline act for the 2019 Durham Blues Festival, just weeks after this year’s event was staged for the first time at its new home, at the Chilton Country Pub and Hotel, near Houghton-le-Spring.

Reaching peak fame in the late 1960s and early 70s, the song most associated with Mungo Jerry is the global hit In The Summertime, which sold more than six million copies worldwide with six months of its release.

Joining them on the bill at the festival, on Saturday June 15, from 2 - 10pm, will be the Connor Selby Band, with the rest of the line-up yet to be confirmed.
