A VILLAGE will come alive with the sound of music for its annual festival over the August bank holiday weekend.

Romaldkirk Music Festival Weekend 2018 will have a change of format this year with two events in the village and two in nearby Barnard Castle.

On Friday, August 23, Andrew Knights will visit the Manor House, in Barnard Castle, to hold a music and song workshop for people living with Alzheimer’s which involves "unlocking memories".

On Saturday, August 24, Charles and Jenny Knights are hosting a violin and strings band workshop for violin and cello at 2.30pm, at St Romald's church, in Romaldkirk.

Suitbale for those of a minimum Grade 4, participants will learn four pieces of music including Baroque, Jazz and Bluegrass. The session will be followed by a short performance at the end. Observers welcome. Participant tickets are £10. To book call 01833-650096.

On Saturday, August 24, at 7.30pm, in Barnard Castle, Susannah Knights will perform live with Oud and singing at the Curlews, 11 Market Place. Tickets cost £12. To book call Emma on 01833-630455.

The Knights Family Ensemble and Friends will then perform on Sunday, August 26, at St Romald’s at 7.30pm.

A concert of Baroque favourites including Bach, Vivaldi, Boyce, Telemann, Albinoni and Avison.
