ILLUSTRATOR Sir Quentin Blake has created a drawing for the Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle which is hosting
The BFG in Pictures exhibition until September 30.
Following a conversation with museum staff, the artist decided to create a piece of art specifically for the museum collection.
“We’re absolutely thrilled that Quentin Blake agreed to create this unique drawing, and equally thrilled with the result,” said staff member Amy Bainbridge.
“It’s particularly pertinent to the Bowes Museum as it depicts the BFG cradling a swan eating a fish, inspired by the museum’s life-size Silver Swan automaton.
“The drawing has been framed and is on display near the entrance to The BFG in Pictures exhibition.
“It’s a wonderful legacy that will become part of our permanent collection for future generations to see.”
The A3 drawing is on Aquarelle Arches fin watercolour paper, and was produced using pen and ink with a watercolour wash.
