I LIVE in West Auckland, which has a lovely village green, but like most small villages there seems to be an awful lot of litter especially around the seats provided where people seem to eat their food and throw the wrappings on the floor – not all of them I may add.

I have noticed in recent weeks a lady going around tidying up but not only litter but pulling weeds from the pavement and edging around the village greens.

She must spend hours doing this, so I approached her and asked if she worked for the council or any other organisation. She said, no, she was born here and loves this village so that’s why she does it.

I would like her to know she is doing a brilliant job and is well appreciated by everyone.
