THOUSANDS of pounds has been stolen from an elderly woman.

Two men attended an address on Fulthorpe Road, in Norton, at around 1.30pm on Tuesday, August 7 under the guise of carrying out work on roof tiles.

The occupant, a 74-year-old woman, agreed to work being carried out on roof tiles for a small fee.

Whilst distracted by one of the men, the second made his way into another room and stole what police are describing as a large amount of cash, understood to be in the thousands.

The two suspects were disturbed and made off from the scene. It is believed that they attended the property in a Mercedes van.

The first suspect is described as a white male, around 6ft tall, of large build, with a full beard, black framed glasses, a well-worn light coloured baseball cap, a black T-shirt, khaki knee-length shorts, work boots, a leather tool belt and he spoke with a scouse accent.

The second suspect is also described as a white male, around 5ft 9” tall, of proportionate build, with slight stubble, ginger hair, wearing a white baseball cap, a white T-shirt, dark blue tracksuit bottoms, white trainers and he spoke with an Irish accent.
