ORGANISERS of a music festival in a picturesque Victorian park have announced the event has been cancelled this year.
The team behind Chase Park Festival, which was due to be held at Saltwell Park in Gateshead, has been postponed, with chief spokesman Alistair McDonald citing sponsorship issues as the reason for its cancellation.
Last year, Chase Park Festival was forced to relocate their traditional spot of Chase Park in Whickham while the site was being renovated.
The event this year was due to take place on Saturday, August 18.
Mr McDonald said: “We had to take the very difficult decision not to run the festival this year due to the fact we didn’t quite get the amount of sponsorship we needed.
“We are gutted that we have had to postpone the festival.
“We are doing everything we can behind the scenes to make the event and the organisation stronger and more sustainable in the longer term.”
