A FREE music festival will be held in a County Durham park tomorrow.

Spennymoor Town Council will host its annual Party in the Park Event on Friday night, in the town's Jubilee Park, between 6pm and 11pm.

To help get festival-goers in the mood for the party night, organisers invite singers and musicians to jam in the town centre before performers take to the stage.

A busking session will be held outside Spennymoor Town Hall, on High Street, throughout Friday.

Colin Ranson, the council's facilities manager, said the line-up includes some top bands and artists along with free entertainment for all the family.

Performers include Elena Larkin, Ste Johnson, Lock n Load, Juggernauts, Rob B Williams and Bryan Adams UK. BBC Tees radio presenter Paul 'Goffy' Gough will host the night.

Attractions for children include bungee trampolines and giant slides.

Entrance is free and visitors can only access the event from Carr Lane and Dundas Street, all other park entrances will be shut.

There will be bar and food outlets providing refreshment on the night and no alcohol can be taken into the park, with security staff on the gates checking. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
