A MAN who lost his mother to cancer is holding a race night to say thank you to the hospice that cared for her.

Mark Griffiths lost his mum, Marilyn, to cancer in June 2015. Her final days were spent at St Cuthbert’s Hospice, in Durham.

And to say thank you for the exceptional care his mother received, Mr Griffiths and his wife Helen are now set to host a race night in her memory.

The event will be held at Frosterley Village Hall on Saturday, August 18, from 7pm.

The grand prize draw will be drawn at the event.

Explaining why the couple chose the charity, Mrs Griffiths said: “We cannot thank the nurses enough for all their kindness and support during that very sad and difficult time. We now feel the time is right for us to try and give something back and help them by raising as much money as possible to allow them to continue to support other people in our community."

Tickets are £5. For tickets call 07702786740 or email mrsgriff2608@gmail.com
