Person trapped

FIRE crews from Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside were requested by the ambulance service to assist freeing a person from an overturned car that has left the road and rolled down an embankment on the A170 at Sproxton at about 7.55pm on Sunday. However the person had been freed when they arrived and was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Organ recital

AN organ recital will be given by Matthew Atherton at Sowerby Women’s Institute open meeting on August 9. Refreshments will be served in the School Room, with a retiring collection. The event starts at 7.30pm.

Pool party

A SUMMER pool party is taking place at Thirsk Leisure Centre on August 10. There will be inflatables, party music and lights to change the colour of the pool water. Limited places available and it runs from 1.30pm to 3pm. Contact 01845-522447 to book.

Skate crash

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a collision between a silver Mitsubishi Colt and a male on a skateboard at the junction of Yorkersgate and Railway Street in Malton on Saturday at 11.29am. The skateboarder suffered minor cuts to his leg and elbow.

Cancer cash

THE annual house-to-house collection in Helmsley in aid of Yorkshire Cancer Research raised more than £5,700.

Open show

PICKERING and District Horticulture Society is to hold its first open show of the year on August 26 in the Memorial Hall. Classes to include flowers, vegetables, produce, floral art, children’s and handicraft. The show will be open from 1pm to 4.30pm.
