AN EXCITING motorsport event saw more than 100 competitors tackle a tough hill climb in Wensleydale.
The Bainbridge and District Motorclub Hill Climb has been hailed a huge success with thousands of spectators coming to watch 188 racers split into seven classes of bike sizes.
The event, which took place on July 25 at Sorrell Sykes Farm, near West Burton, Wensleydale, was organised by the motor club and its volunteer members who set up races, manned the burger stall and marshalled in the car park.
Event secretary Bob Foster said: "We are so pleased with the success of the event. It is growing year on year but it can’t be done without hard work from the motorclub members, the riders providing the action and donations helping to run the event.
"It was great to see people enjoying the event in the evening sun, while eating and drinking on the grass bank with friends."
Each race was a knockout between two bikes, whittling it down to the final. The overall winner was John Hodgson who took King of Hill, with Ryan Staveley in runner up position. Trialling star Dougie Lampkin attended, while DJ Wilko provided background music.
