POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a suspected arson attack on a car parked in a country lane.
The car, a black Audi A4, was discovered on fire parked in a layby off the B6310, between Hamsterley and Burnopfield, near Stanley, County Durham, on Monday evening.
Fire crews extinguished the blaze, which was discovered shortly after 9pm, but police are now investigating the incident.
The vehicle was parked close to the cycle route, near Lintz Green, between 7.30pm and 9pm on Monday, July 30.
Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident or anyone with information to come forward.
