A DIABETES sufferer has organised a concert to raise funds for a research charity.
Ryan Hanley, 25, was diagnosed with type one diabetes as a teenager and is on a mission to help others and live life to the full.
He has enlisted Fishburn Band and the Durham Harmonics choir to host an evening of music in aid of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
It will take place at North Road Methodist Church, Durham City, on Saturday, August 4, at 7.30pm.
Mr Hanley, of Bowburn, is promising a “night full of high quality entertainment”.
He said: “JDRF is a charity invested in research which aims to cure, treat and prevent type one diabetes. Money raised through this concert will go towards my fundraising target of £1,000, which I am raising through a variety of activities.”
Mr Hanley is also running the Great North Run in September in a bid to show others diabetes “should not hold you back”.
Tickets for the concert are £5 on the door or call 07981094269. To donate visit uk.virginmoneygiving.com/RyanHanley1
