A NEW appeal for information has been made after an 85-year-old man with Alzheimer’s was robbed by two men on bicycles.

The pensioner was targeted at about 5.20pm on Saturday, June 23, as he walked over Junction Road railway bridge, near Lidl, in Norton.

He was targeted for his black back pack and Tweed jacket, though the jacket was later recovered by police. The man was not physically injured and no arrests have been made.

The back pack contained sentimental items including an original newspaper cutting from the man’s wedding in 1960. It also contained a small A5-sized satchel with documents inside.

The suspects are described as two white males aged in their early thirties. One was about five feet eight inches tall, with a shaved head and wearing a light blue T-shirt which could have been a football shirt.

The victims’ daughters, Katie Lunn and Clare Palmer said: “His Alzheimer’s is making it very difficult for him to understand what has happened and to make any sense of the incident.

“He would make regular trips to see our mam, his wife of 58 years, who lives in a local care home. This incident has left an already vulnerable, elderly man anxious and afraid to leave his home.”

Witnesses can contact Cleveland Police’s Detective Constable Pete Lillie via non-emergency number 101.
