A HOTEL manager has returned to the region to take the reins of a former stately home.

Dale Needham was previously in charge of the Mercure Darlington’s King’s Hotel, formerly the King’s Head, which was gutted by fire in 2008.

After a multi-million pound investment the hotel was re-launched in 2012 with Mr Needham dressing up as Santa to promote it.

He has now taken charge of Solberge Hall, near Northallerton, North Yorkshire, a Georgian mansion which is operated by Classic Lodges.

Mr Needham said: “Solberge Hall is a fabulous venue for all visitors – there is something for everyone.”

Classic Lodges managing director Richard Grime said: “Dale is one of those general managers that wants to roll up his sleeves and get involved straight away.

“The team are feeling re-energised and focused, and we are seeing an increase in the number of people showing an interest in Solberge as a wedding venue and conference and event venue too.”
