THREE people remain in a serious condition in hospital following a crash between Durham and Stanley.

A Durham Police spokesperson said: “There was a two-vehicle collision on the crossroads in Edmondsley involving a Hyundai and Mitsubishi at 11.43am on Wednesday.

The North East Ambulance Service and County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service also attended the accident at the junction of the B6532 and Waldridge Road.

The spokesman added: “The driver of the Hyundai, who was taken to the University of Hospital North Durham has been discharged following treatment.

“Two passengers in the Hyundai are in a serious but stable condition at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary. The driver of the Mitsubishi is also in the RVI in a serious but stable condition.”
