A CRASH involving a car and a parked lorry is caused severe delays for several hours on the A19.
North East Traffic Live, which issues updates about the region's road network, said there had been a crash near to the A690 Durham Road junction on the soundbound carriageway.
The scene of the collision was on the approach to the A690 turn off on the A19 southbound. It said there were lane closures and a diesel spillage.
A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: "Police received a report at about 11.04am today that a Vauxhall Astra had veered off road and collided with a lorry parked in a lay by on the A19.
"The A183 slip road was blocked by the vehicles.
"Nobody was seriously injured and a diversion was in place."
The road was opened shortly before 2pm.
