WOVEN into the tapestry of European history, France and England have battled since 1066, and Germany tried to bomb and shell us into submission twice in the last century.

In the 1960s we tried to join a Euro club, run by France, as Germany had been halved by Russia.

France rejected our first attempt because we were too close to the US, we withdrew from the second attempt on the grounds we couldn’t afford it.

We eventually accepted every humiliating demand from France, and agreed a huge annual fee for our subjugation.

After 40 years, Nigel Farage told the truth about our membership, and we, the English great unwashed woke up at last.

By a huge stroke of luck, the only MP actually willing to accept Brexit was, and is, in charge at the time.

It seems whatever final agreement grudgingly she extracts from the Eurocrats, we will be out partially.

This is unsurprising, having been submerged further and further into subjugation during the last half century.

If I’m allowed to potter around for a few more years, I’m considering re-joining the Independence Party.

Monsieur Farage is talking about a comeback.
