A MAN had to be taken to hospital for treatment following an alleged assault by a small group of men in a village pub.

Another man also had to be treated at the scene following the incident in Appleton-le-Moors earlier this month.

Police said that the incident happened at the Moors Inn in the village - near Pickering - at about 10pm on Friday, July 6.

It involved a small group of men - who are believed to be from the local area - entering the pub and assaulting "a number of customers" before leaving prior to police arrival.

A police spokesman said: "One man was treated at the scene and a second man was taken to hospital for treatment."

Officers are now appealing for witnesses and information about the disturbance.

"We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident," said the spokesman.

"In particular, we are appealing for information about the identity of the males involved."
