AWARD: Ripon Canal recognised as one of the country’s finest open spaces
RIPON Canal has been honoured with a Green Flag Award in recognition of its importance to the local community and environment.
Cared for by the Canal and River Trust, the 2.5- mile canal is a green corridor reaching from the heart of the city into the countryside and is enjoyed locally for being a scenic walking route and bursting with wildlife
Trust spokesman Mike Marshall.said the award highlighted how important the waterway was for the local community, visitors, and wildlife and commended the enthusiasm of staff and volunteers in maintaining the canal and its features and habitats.
