SEDGEFIELD residents are being urged to ensure windows and doors are secured following a sneak-in burglary.

Durham Police said an unknown suspect climbed through a window into a bungalow on Naylor Road on Tuesday afternoon.

During the burglary, which happened between 2pm and 4pm, drawers were searched and a wallet containing a quantity of cash was stolen.

A police spokesperson said: "Police would urge residents to ensure windows and doors are not left open or unlocked, in particular if you are intending on leaving your property, or not going to be inside.

"The weather is glorious at the moment, and lots of us have our windows open to keep cool but make sure you are vigilant."
