A SUCCESSFUL book shop has launched a crowdfunding campaign to help deliver a poignant children’s book The Day War Came into all of the schools in the local area.

Drake - The Bookshop has joined forces with the book's publisher, Walker Books, to provide a copy to 285 schools.

But rather than wanting to just put the books in to each library, owners Richard Drake and Melanie Greenwood wanted to make sure that author Nicola Davies and illustrator Rebecca Cobb got their fair royalties from the project.

Ms Greenwood said: “The book is a message of hope and compassion and something we think schools and pupils would be love to create some work by using. As an independent bookshop we are keen to ensure that the true value of books is recognised and authors and illustrators get a fair deal from the sale of their books.”

The price of the book includes £1 that is donated to helprefugees.org
