TWENTY five young geese have been beheaded at an animal rescue centre.
Durham Police confirmed they are investigating after owners at the Wetheriggs Animal Rescue, at Thorpe Farm, near Barnard Castle, found the animals this morning.
A post on the Barnard Castle Police Facebook page said: "We have received a distressing report from the animal rescue centre located at Thorpe Farm.
"This morning they discovered 25 young geese had been beheaded, this is not believed to be an animal attack."
A Durham police spokesman has since confirmed officers were called to the scene at 10.20am and an investigation is ongoing.
