Vehicles thefts

A MAN is due to appear in court in connection with a burglary and theft from a motor vehicle in Newton Aycliffe. The offences are alleged to have been committed on Aycliffe Business Park overnight between Friday, June 29, and Saturday, June 30. The man, of the Darlington area, was arrested and charged this week and will appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, July 17.

Layby closures

THE Sedgefield Station and Sandybank lay-bys, off the A689, west of Sedgefield, will be closed from Monday. The estimated seven-week closure is to allow for water main works to be carried out. An alternative route will be available to traffic. Access will be maintained to the properties at Sedgefield Station by phasing the work to allow entry from one end of the lay-by.

Council surgery

DURHAM County Councillor John Robinson will hold a drop in surgery in Sedgefield Library from 10am until 11am today.

Gala parade

RESIDENTS and businesses in Chilton are reminded there will be a road closure in place in the town on Saturday, from 8.15am to 9.45am, for the banner procession before leaving for the annual Durham Miners Gala.

Choir concert

HARTLEPOOL Male Voice Choir will perform in St Edmund’s Church, Sedgefield, at 7pm today. Tickets to see the choir are £7 each and are available on the door. All proceeds will go towards the roof repair fund. For more details call Michael King on 01740-620910.

A CAR boot sale will be held in the carpark of Hamsterley Village Social Club on Saturday, August 4, from10am until 1pm.
