FORMER Spice Girls star Melanie C will be bringing her unique sound to County Durham this summer as part of a festival line-up.

The singer will take to the stage on Sunday, August 19, during the second day of the region’s largest music festival Hardwick Live, at Hardwick Hall, near Sedgefield.

Melanie C shot to fame during the 1990s as one fifth of the world’s most successful girl group of all time.

Known back then as ‘Sporty Spice’, she enjoyed worldwide fame as the band sold 80 million records and had nine UK number one hits.

She went on to become the most successful solo artist from the band, with seven successful albums and a string of hits.

John Adamson, owner of Ramside Estates, which runs Hardwick Live, said: "Melanie C is one of the biggest names in pop and someone everyone is familiar with."
