FIREFIGHTERS have been tackling a huge fire at a North Yorkshire secondary school overnight.
The blaze is at Sherburn High School, in Sherburn-in-Elmet, in a building measuring approximately 20 metres by 25 metres.
Both North Yorkshire and West Yorkshire fire crews have been called to the school to tackle the blaze.
Crews remained on scene throughout the night and used multiple main jets and ground monitors.
Currently the incident has been scaled down to two appliances which will remain at the scene for most of the day damping down hot spots.
A fire investigation will be undertaken.
The school has confirmed that it is closed to everyone today due to the serious fire.
North Yorkshire Police Operational Support Unit have said at this time it looks like it is the school changing block which has been damaged.
