A GOLFER got a hole-in-one while playing in a North-East club competition.

Jeff Pitt, 31, from Lanchester, scored the 359 yard shot while taking part in the RC Foster contest at Consett and District Golf Club last weekend.

Mr Pitt, who runs a construction company, plays with a handicap of -2.1, got lucky on the par four 16th hole.

The father-of-one, who is a member at the club, said: “I had a bit of an interesting round.

“I had a few birdies and a few bogeys. I was one over through 15 holes so I was a bit disappointed.

“I have played that hole numerous time so I teed up and tried to play a fade towards the green.

“It was a blind tee shot.

“I had the wind behind me and I hit the ball quite hard with a left to right shot.

“It must have come back nicely, pitched on to the green and rolled in.”

Mr Pitt finished the 18 hole round with a final score of 68.

He said: “It was a bit of a lucky shot but that was my fourth hole-in-one.

“I haven’t had one for about seven years so it was a bit of a shock.”
