A VILLAGE is gearing up for its annual festival next weekend, which will include a circus workshop, agility challenge, road race, live music and other entertainment.

Kilburn Feast takes place on Sunday, July 8, in the village beneath the famous Kilburn White Horse landmark near Thirsk.

There will be a traditional village fete with duck races, food stalls, bouncy castle, face painting and tombola from noon, as well as a circus workshop, agility challenge and live music from Thirsk Royal British Legion Band.

At 1pm a seven-mile road race will begin, with tea and sandwiches for everyone who finishes.

The road in the centre of Kilburn, between the turnings to Balk and High Kilburn, will be closed between 12.30pm and 4.30pm.

There will be parking at both ends of the village.

The day will finish with a duck race at 6pm, followed by the Lord Mayor’s parade at 6.30pm.

People can also buy raffle tickets to win a luxury 24-hour spa break for two at Rockcliffe Hall at Herworth-on-Tees, flight experiences and three-month temporary membership of the Yorkshire Gliding Club, a sold oak book storage trough worth £186 from the Robert Thompson’s Mouseman workshop and a £100 Thirsk Garden Centre voucher.
