POLICE officers have swarmed on a residential street in York following concerns for the safety of a resident.
Emergency services are currently at a house in Carnot Street, in the Leeman Road area of York and a number of neighbouring properties have been evacuated.
One resident said they believed a woman had barricaded herself in a house, but reports are unconfirmed at this stage.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "Emergency services remain working at the scene with the aim to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.
"We would like to reassure communities there is no threat to the wider public and thank residents for their patience throughout this incident."
Seven police vans and one fire engine are at the scene and armed police are also believed to be in attendance.
The cordon has been extended to Lincoln Street.
