FOUR volunteers who have given up their free time to help improve life for people in County Durham have been recognised by the Chairman of Durham County Council.
Terry Batson, from TBetty Carr, David Kinch and Jim Welch have contributed a total of 37 years’ service to the council’s overview and scrutiny committees and will now retire from their duties.
The four co-opted members were presented with a certificate in recognition of their contribution and commitment to their committees by new chairman, Cllr John Lethbridge.
Mrs Carr, from Shildon, a co-optee on the Adults Wellbeing and Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee, said: “This role has meant my voice has really been listened to and I am pleased to have made a difference to my community. I would definitely encourage others thinking about getting involved to find out more.”
