FIVE people have been arrested following an incident allegedly involving a firearm.

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm following an altercation between a group of people in Stockton.

A further two people have also been arrested on suspicion of affray, in connection with an incident which happened on Carburt Road at around 6.45pm yesterday.

Cleveland Police said it is believed one of the people was in possession of a firearm and armed response officers attended the scene.

Three men, one boy and one woman were all arrested in connection with the incident and they all currently remain in custody.

Two men aged 40 and 19 and a boy aged 16 were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence.

A man, 21 and a woman, 29, were both arrested on suspicion of affray.

Enquiries are ongoing.
