AAP vacancy

THE 3 Towns Area Action Partnership is seeking a new public representative to sit on its board and help decide how cash is spent in the area. The position is open to people over 16 who live, work, volunteer or study in Crook, Willington, Tow Law and the surrounding villages. Applications from Tow Law, Willington or the surrounding villages are especially encouraged to ensure a good geographical representation. Public representatives can serve for up to four years and attend board meetings every two months. They can also join task and finish groups. Shed burglary

A 39-year-old Darlington man has been charged with burglary and common assault following an incident in Richardson Fields, Barnard Castle on Monday, June 18, at 11.30pm. He has been bailed with conditions not to enter Teesdale and to abide to a curfew until he appears before South Durham Magistrates on July 26. It is alleged that he burgled a garden shed before being restrained by residents.

Council meets

THE next meeting of Staindrop Parish Council will be held on Thursday, June 28, at 7.15pm in Scarth Hall, Staindrop. This is instead of June 21, as previously advised by the parish council. Members of the public are invited to attend.

High tea

HIGH tea will be served at Witton-le-Wear Community Centre on Sunday, July 1, from 2pm, for a donation. A grand draw will be held at 4pm and there will also be a tombola, bouncy castle, lucky dip.

Whist drive

A WHIST drive will be held in Evenwood Church Hall at 2pm on Saturday, June 23. Admission is £3 and includes refreshments.
