A CLASSIC car and vintage vehicle show was enjoyed by hundreds of people at the weekend.

Raby Castle near Staindrop, County Durham, hosted a cavalcade of classic cars, bikes, steam engines, buses, trucks, vintage vans and tractors on Sunday.

Enthusiasts and visitors enjoyed viewing the vehicles, club displays, trade stands and auto-jumble along with family attractions in the grounds of the medieval castle.

The Father’s Day event had special poignancy when one of the clubs at the event donated £1,385 to the charity Tiny Lives.

Hamsterley Vintage Tractor Society was inspired to raise the money with a Good Friday tractor run and a social night after learning how the charity supported a family who lost one premature baby and had another who survived.

Kris and Toni Hodgson and their friends and family have raised funds for Tiny Lives since their first child Evangeline Grace, who sadly passed away, and third daughter Indie were born around 23 weeks.

Club secretary Rachel Anderson said: “Every year we support a different charity and when I learnt of Tiny Lives through a colleague we were proud to help, Indie was there on Sunday which was lovely.”
